Trent University Athletics & Recreation announced today the largest sponsorship deal in its history, signing a multi-year agreement with Osmow's Shawarma and Chatime, two local restaurant brands operated by the Ghazanfar family.

Osmow's Shawarma, a restaurant opened in 2018 by the Ghazanfar family, has become a popular spot for Mediterranean cuisine in the city. In 2023, siblings Kanza and Zaeem Ghazanfar expanded the family business by opening Chatime, adding to the growing bubble tea scene in Peterborough.

Both businesses first partnered with the Trent Excalibur during the 2024-25 season as game day sponsors. Following a successful year, they expanded their involvement on a larger scale through this significant multi-year sponsorship.

"This partnership represents an exciting new chapter for the Trent Excalibur," said Nathan McFadden, Director of Athletics & Recreation at Trent University. "We're so grateful to have strong brands like Osmow's Shawarma and Chatime partnering with the Excalibur program. Their support helps us provide an exceptional student-athlete and fan experience both on and off the field."

Kanza Ghazanfar said the partnership felt like a natural next step. "Trent has been such an incredible support for us. The students are always so amazing, so I feel like this is a big step in the right direction. It means so much to be able to support student-athletes and to have a great relationship with Trent overall."

The sponsorship features new branded signage on the videoboard at Justin Chiu Stadium and in the Trent Athletics Centre gymnasium, enhancing the game day experience for both student-athletes and Excalibur fans.

Trent Athletics & Recreation proudly supports 12 Excalibur varsity teams competing in six sports, along with three competitive club teams, representing more than 300 dedicated student-athletes. The Trent Athletics Centre is a vibrant hub, welcoming more than 200,000 visitors annually.
